Using the appropriate products and methods, feces can be completely removed. Chico Carpet One suggests the following tips for getting rid of these stains and keeping your carpeting looking brand new and smelling sweet.
First, clean up new messes promptly. Then, perform the following steps for the spot and stain removal:
- SCRAPE or blot up excess spill
- APPLY detergent solution onto a damp towel
- BLOT don't rub
- APPLY white vinegar (undiluted) using a damp towel
- BLOT don't rub
- APPLY with damp sponge
- BLOT to finish with a weighted pad of paper towels
Repeat this process until the stain is completely gone. The above is the best home remedy for removing feces. However, if the stain is bad and not coming out, then you might consider hiring a professional carpet cleaner as they have several additional methods and products that can remove lingering stains and odors, and that may also discourage pets from repeating this behavior. You’ll have to train your kids on your own!
